Pros and Cons of shaving your face
Benefits of Shaving
Shaving skin gets rid of all the peach fuzz as well as exfoliates your skin which leads to a smoother surface. Girls with thick hairs will see very visible results in their skin texture.
Apart from getting rid of unwanted hair,
shaving actually benefits the skin – it eliminates dead cells, makes your skin
softer.
2. Better looking makeup
Girls who rock a full face of makeup must
have noticed texture around there jawline or around there hairline. As shaving
skin gets rid of peach fuzz as well as exfoliates your face hence provides a
smoother base for makeup application, makes your makeup look a lot smoother.
3. Skincare products are more effective
Shaving your face can be very daunting at first
but it can make a big impact on your face. As all the hairs are removed and
face is exfoliated skincare products penetrate deeper inside your skin.
Shaving the fine hairs on the face can help with
the absorption and penetration of the skincare products you use,” explains Dr. Schwinger.
“There is some exfoliation benefit, but it’s hard to say exactly how much.”
5. A better alternative than bleaching, waxing, etc.
Dr. Dendy Engelman, MD, a dermatologist, says waxing is even worse than shaving
when it comes to ingrown hairs.“Waxing disrupts the
superficial epidermis when the hair is pulled from the follicle. When the skin
regrows, it can grow over the follicular opening and cause hairs to ingrow,”
she explains.
And in the case of bleaching,
every bleaching product contains two main chemicals, Hydroquinone and mercury
both are toxic. Hydroquinone is a chemical used for photo processing and hair
dyes. Mercury is a carcinogen. Also, the continued use of hydroquinone will roughen the
skin, making it look like an uneven patch of colors with spotted appearance.
Determinants of Shaving
1. Can irritate
existing skin condition
For those who have active acne, cuts or rashes on their faces should avoid shaving on those areas because it can further irritate your skin and can cause infection- that would be the last thing you ever want.

2. May have to
shave every day if you have thicker and darker hair growth
If you have thicker hairs growth you may feel your
hairs growing after one or two days because in shaving we are not taking the hairs
out from the roots (like we do in waxing).
3. May feel a bit stubble
After shaving the growth of your hairs comes out the bluntness
of the re-growth may feel coarser and thicker. That does not signify
that your facial hair is growing back thicker or darker. Your hairs are just
the way they are.
